Foxy Bingo cleared again by ASA

It has been revealed that a Minister of Parliament for the Liberal Democrat Party has lodged a protest with the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA), criticising a TV advertising campaign by online bingo provider Foxy Bingo which offers a free bingo bonus of £10 without the necessity of a deposit. Don Foster MP argued that the ad was misleading saying that “the terms and conditions indicated that winnings resulting from bingo cards purchased with the (free) £10 were paid out only if there was a minimum of £30 in a Foxy Bingo account set up with a credit or debit card.”

Cashcade, the company behind Foxy Bingo responded in an official statement saying that “The promotion did allow people to play with £10 completely for free with no obligations such as setting up an account. However, to prevent abuse of the offer - meaning people simply withdrawing the free £10 instead of playing - players did have to have a minimum of £30 in an account and make a deposit in order to cash in on winnings.”

The particular ad which pictures Foxy – the Foxy bingo mascot singing to the Sister Sledge hit ‘We Are Family’ was confirmed as being within all the obligatory guidelines set out by the Advertising Standards Agency when they ruled that the ‘free’ element of the wording of the campaign did not neglect any principal clauses or significant  restrictions.

This isn’t the first time that a Foxy Bingo TV advertising campaign has been faced with an inquiry by the ASA, although we can confirm that on both occasions the campaigns have been cleared after an official investigation.
